The best heat is radiant heat from a lovely wood fire. We are happy to advise you on the rocket stove with its extremely high combustion efficiency. Its position is central in the house. The stove burns very economically without causing any odour. Thanks to the double combustion principle, you get over 90% efficiency from your wood.

This stove therefore has an almost complete and therefore much cleaner combustion than normal stoves. Very little heat escapes from the chimney. There is no smoke and no smell when it burns.

Our kitchen, washing machine and shower are standard equipped with sewage. For the toilet you can choose between the familiar flushing toilet or a dry composting toilet from SEPARETT. This 'dry toilet' is a modern, waterless, urine-sorting system. In terms of design, comfort and use, this toilet is in all respects the same as a modern toilet. The big advantage is that it uses no water at all.

It is also equipped with all the luxuries, such as the toilet flap that only slides open when you sit down on the seat. The built-in fan ensures that all odours and condensation are removed quietly and effectively. The fan is powered by the solar panels.

The toilet is very environmentally friendly, both in use and in the material it is made of (recyclable polythene).

When designing this house, we looked for an ecologically sustainable solution for the window frames. That turned out to be not so easy, because most wooden window frames are made of tropical hardwood and since we don't like that and don't want to make any concessions in terms of sustainability, we kept looking.

We found a place, where the make only window frames from sustainably produced wood.

At the front of the house, we opted for a large sliding door and large, long windows on the sides. This way, you get a lot of light in the living room.

The windows in the bedroom and bathroom have a tilt/turn system and there are four skylights in the roof.

The cladding is made of Douglas fir. This is a European softwood that gets harder as the years go by. Untreated, the wood will naturally 'grey'. Do you prefer a colour? Then we recommend the environmentally friendly Moose Farg paint from Scandinavia.

Other types of wood can also be discussed and we will be happy to advise you on the footprint it will leave. 

The energy from the two solar panels is stored in two batteries so that if there is no sun, you will still have power. This is sufficient for an average power need for lighting. A normal mains connection brings 220 Volts to the sockets for the fridge, washing machine etc. If you prefer to go completely off-the-grid, the standard meter cupboard can be extended with an inverter and extra batteries. The number of solar panels is then adjusted to the location and position in relation to the sun.

For the hot water requirements, we will work with you to create a customised plan that best suits your situation. The standard piping is already prepared.
